Annemarie Crossroads Elder
Where I have been and what I have done
I grew up in Terneuzen, a small town in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen near the Belgium border. When I was 18 I went to study Dutch Law at Leiden University and I now work as a lawyer for the government of The Hague (compliance of environmental law).
My childhood was conservative and protected on the one hand, but on the other hand my parents gave me a broad view of the world. There is this curiosity in me that drives me to discover different countries and continents and I love to travel around the world. I’m interested in people and in the diversity of people and cultures and I love that aspect about Crossroads.
I have been a Christian all my life. I grew up in an evangelical church and when I moved to Leiden to study I decided to find out for myself what kind of church fits me. I went to traditional churches for a couple of years until a friend of mine found out about Crossroads and invited me to come too. That was in 2001 and I have been in Crossroads ever since. I have been involved in church work all my life and I have been in several ministries at Crossroads.
My passion is to see how God heals people and brings them to their full potential. I believe God wants each of us to live life to the full so that we can be a blessing to the world around us. Every day I’m experiencing more and more of the presence, the intimacy and the power of the Holy Spirit within me.
What I like about Crossroads
Although I have heard the message about grace all my life, at Crossroads the truth about God’s unconditional love for me has really sunk in. I don’t need to work for His love and forgiveness, I am accepted just the way I am.
Scripture that is central to me
Psalm 16:11 You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy, at Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.
