Alpha Course Crossroads Church
Begin the New Year with a fresh start – join the Alpha Course, starting On-line, moving (As Soon As Possible) to In-Real-Life!
What is Alpha?
The Alpha Course is a series of 11 study-sessions, exploring the Christian faith. Each session looks at a different question about faith, and is designed to encourage authentic and meaningful conversation and reflection. Alpha is the ideal place for first time explorers, but also a great way of deepening or reaffirming your faith.
What does an Alpha evening look like?
First, we share a lunch and get connected
In these times of social distancing, we first need to get comfortably connected. This year, our Alpha sessions will start on-line, and along the way, we hope we can step over to ‘IRL’ (In-Real-Life), but carefully, acknowledging the need to be masked until safely seated, to have constant ventilation of the air, to maintain 1,5 meter distance from each other, and to stay home when experiencing any symptoms. This seems to be the new normal for the Alpha Course all over the world…and we’re delighted to be getting started anyway, and to be taking our next steps!
The online sessions will take place on Zoom and start at 12.30. We will make sure you receive a Zoom link beforehand. Once we move to In-Real-Life sessions, we’ll start with a lunch at 12:30 in Zandvliet College, just after the Sunday gathering of Crossroads International Church of The Hague. We’ll greet each other and have a time of connection and catching up with each other.

Then a video
The videos are designed to engage and inspire meaningful conversation. They explore big issues around faith, and unpack some of the basics of Christianity, addressing questions from ‘Who is Jesus?’ and ‘How can we have faith?’ to ‘Why and How do I pray?’ and ‘How does God guide us?’
Followed by discussion
One of the most meaningful aspects of Alpha is the invitation to share thoughts and ideas on faith in a comfortable group setting. There's no pressure to speak and there’s also nothing you can't say or share (seriously). It's an opportunity to engage, hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, respectful, friendly and open environment.
Date: This year, the Alpha Course starts on Sunday afternoon the 20th of February 2022.
Frequency: We’ll have a session once a week and end on the 8th of May 2022.
Time: We’ll begin with a welcome at 12:30 and a video at 12:45. Even though there are issues we could discuss endlessly, we will respect each other’s busy lives by closing around 14.15.
The In-Real-Life sessions will take a bit longer, as they include lunch, and will end around 14:45 & 15:00.
Sign up together!
Some people may find it challenging to sign-up alone, especially when new to church or even just the thought of exploring faith. If that’s the case, we encourage you to come and ‘bring someone along’. Even if you've done the course before, consider those around you who would be open to coming along with you and sign-up together.
You can sign up by registering here. If you have any questions please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
There is no charge for attending the Alpha course, but you can donate for the costs of the booklets and the food if you like.
Want to help out?Interested in getting involved in making it all happen? The Alpha Course can't be held without the help of dedicated volunteers. If you would like to help, please contact email@example.com. We’re always grateful for more people who can pitch in to host or pray.
