Info Meeting Romania Mission Trip

BSN, 'the Egg'
In October 2012 and 2013, several Crossroaders joined The American Protestant Church in The Hague (APCH) on a mission trip to the city of Cluj-Napoca in Romania. The mission trip focused on families living in the “trash belt” in the suburbs of the city, an area called “Pata Rat”...

More than 1,400 Roma gypsies (both young and old) live at the dump, unable to receive government health assistance or education because of their undocumented status. They try to make a living off of scraps of material – bottles, cans, and metal – that can be salvaged from others’ trash. Many children grow up in this community, knowing nothing of the world beyond the garbage dump. Some walk barefoot and work without gloves scavenging anything fit to recycle and, not uncommonly, something to eat. Each year the mission trip is an incredible experience which touches many lives (including those of us who go). Plans are now well on the way for another team of Crossroaders to join American Protestant Church (APCH_ and go again this October 18th-25th.The estimated costs are 450 euros.  On this trip the team will be building and renovating houses, we will provide a children’s program two times a day, and you can help with cooking and food distribution.
If you are wanting to explore taking part in this short-term missions opportunity, you are welcome to join us on Sunday June 1st between the services in the Egg (the glass curved room in the corridor). For more info, please feel free to contact Annemarie Goudswaard: angoudswaard@hotmail.com or check out the APCH-website: http://www.apch.nl/missions/mission-trips/
