Jack and Janette previously worked with Youth With a Mission (YWAM).
Jack comes from Southern California, and Janette is Dutch. They live in
Leidschendam with their children.

WHERE I HAVE BEEN AND WHAT I HAVE DONE:
I grew up in Southern California as the oldest of 5 children. I spent
lots of time outdoors in the beautiful, sunny weather--playing as much
basketball and baseball as I could. During the last year of my
university studies, I had a powerful encounter with God which
radically altered the focus and direction of my life. I finished up my
degree in Accounting and then worked for the next 5 years as an
internal auditor for the US Dept. of Treasury. At the age of 28, I
decided to leave my government job to do a 6-month Discipleship
Training School (DTS) with Youth With a Mission (YWAM) ‚ an
international missions organization known for its cutting-edge
missional initiatives. My intention was to then enroll in seminary to
be trained as a pastor. But my short term missions experience with
YWAM ended up lasting 15 incredible years ‚ the last 8 of which
were with my beautiful Dutch wife Janette. In November 2000 we
felt led to move to The Hague so I could join the pastoral staff at
Crossroads. What an awesome privilege it is to serve such a
dynamic and diverse community such as ours!

MY ROLE IN CROSSROADS: I have served as an Associate Pastor and elder
since coming to Crossroads in the latter part of 2000. My role has
evolved through the years as the church has grown ‚ but my focus
continues to be to work closely with people (pastoral care, mentoring,
etc.) and administration (ministry centre office, finances, etc).


MY PASSION IN LIFE: My greatest joy is being a father to 3 of the best
kids a parent could ever hope for. I also take great delight in being
a wounded healer‚ helping others to embrace the love of the Father so
that they can go on to discover how their lives can make a difference in
the world for good. God has also given me a deep love for Holland
during the 18 years I have lived here, which has resulted in a desire
to use my pastoral and administrative gifts to see the Kingdom of
God permeate every aspect of Dutch society.

HOBBIES: I love to read, travel, and play sports down at the local
park with my 2 boys. For me, nothing can beat camping out with my
family during the summer holidays.

MY FAVORITE FOOD: Italian and Mexican dishes, with the lone
"American" cuisine being In & Out burgers.

MY FAVORITE MOVIES: Fiddler on the Roof; The Gladiator; Last of the
Mohicans; Rainman and What about Bob?
